Terms of Submission

Papers must be submitted on the understanding that they have not been published elsewhere and are not currently under consideration by another journal published by any other publisher. The submitting author is responsible for ensuring that the article's publication has been approved by all the other coauthors. It is also the authors' responsibility to ensure that the articles emanating from a particular institution are submitted with the approval of the necessary institution. Only an acknowledgment from the editorial office officially establishes the date of receipt. Further correspondence and proofs will be sent to the author(s) before publication unless otherwise indicated. It is a condition of submission of a paper that the authors permit editing of the paper for readability. All enquiries concerning the publication of accepted papers should be addressed to jcim@163.com.

Peer Review

All manuscripts are subject to peer review and are expected to meet standards of academic excellence. Submissions will be considered by an editor and “if not rejected right away” by peer-reviewers, whose identities will remain anonymous to the authors.

Article Processing Charges

Currently JIM does not levy any charges to the papers submitted to JIM.

Authorship

JIM authors should meet the definition of an author as stated by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors. It is the responsibility of every person listed as an author of an article published in JIM to have contributed in a meaningful and identifiable way to the design, performance, analysis, and reporting of the work.

Financial Associations/Conflict of Interest

A competing interest exists when professional judgment concerning the validity of research is influenced by a secondary interest, such as financial gain. We require that our authors reveal all possible conflicts of interest in their submitted manuscripts.

None of the JIM editors has any financial relationship with any biomedical company.

Clinical Trial Registration

JIM adopts clinical trial registration policy of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

The ICMJE clinical trial registration policy requires prospective registration of all interventional clinical studies. The ICMJE defines a clinical trial as any research project that prospectively assigns people or a group of people to an intervention, with or without concurrent comparison or control groups, to study the cause-and-effect relationship between a health-related intervention and a health outcome. Health-related interventions are those used to modify a biomedical or health-related outcome; examples include drugs, surgical procedures, devices, behavioural treatments, dietary interventions, quality improvement interventions, and process-of-care changes. Health outcomes are any biomedical or health-related measures obtained in patients or participants, including pharmacokinetic measures and adverse events.

JIM requires, as a condition of consideration for publication, registration of all trials in a public trials registry that is acceptable to the ICMJE (http://www.icmje.org) or any of the primary registries that participate in the WHO International Clinical Trials Portal (http://www.who.int/ictrp/en).

For additional guidance on reporting clinical trials, please see CONSORT statement and its extensions developed by CONSORT group (http://www.consort-statement.org).
