What kind of papers does JIM publishes?JIM welcomes manuscripts from all over the world, on all aspects of integrative medicine, such as acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurvedic medicine, herbal medicine, homeopathy, nutrition, chiropractic, mind-body medicine, Taichi, Qigong, meditation, and any other modalities of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). Article types include reviews, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, randomized controlled and pragmatic trials, translational and patient-centered effectiveness outcome studies, case series and reports, clinical trial protocols, preclinical and basic science studies, papers on methodology and CAM history or education, editorials, global views, commentaries, short communications, book reviews, conference proceedings, and letters to the editor. Is the JIM published at regular intervals?JIM is published bimonthly (Six issues per year). What is the publication fee for an accepted article? When an article is accepted for publication, authors do not have to pay any fee for it unless they choose Open Access. JIM offers authors the option to make their article freely available on the Publisher’s website. For an additional charge, your article will be freely accessible immediately upon publication (To get more detail, please see About Open Access). How to submit an article for publication?Manuscripts should be submitted online via the online submission and peer review system ScholarOne Manuscripts. Regardless of the source of the word-processing tool, only electronic PDF (.pdf) or Word (.doc, .docx, .rtf) files can be submitted through the ScholarOne Manuscripts. There is no page limit. Only online submissions are accepted to facilitate rapid publication and minimize administrative costs. Submissions by anyone other than one of the authors will not be accepted. The submitting author takes responsibility for the paper during submission and peer review. If for some technical reason submission through the ScholarOne Manuscripts is not possible, the author can contact jimjournal2013@163.com for support. How to submit a revised paper?Follow the link in your JIM decision letter to access your revised manuscript record or click the manuscript number on your author home page. The files uploaded for your original manuscript and your manuscript information will appear. Revision files must be uploaded individually along with a point-by-point response to the reviewers’ comments and a list of any other changes made to the manuscript.Does the reputation of the authors influence the editors? No, manuscripts across all tracks are evaluated based on the scientific merits of the work, not on who the authors are or where they are from. What happens to a submitted paper, and who makes the final decision? The Editor-in-Chief receives initial submissions and can reject the paper at initial submission. After the initial review, the Editor-in-Chief assigns the manuscript to the associate editor. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the final decision. How long is the decision process?More than 50% of submissions are declined by the Editor-in-Chief within the first 2 weeks of submission. For papers that are sent to an editor and reviewers, the average time to receive an initial decision is 60 days. The average time from acceptance to online publication is 60 days. The average time from submission to online publication is 5 months. What does the decision letter mean?If revision is required, the paper must be revised in response to the comments from the editor or reviewers. In this case, the decision regarding acceptance will be made after the editor and reviewers have evaluated the point-by-point response submitted by the authors. The majority of revised submissions will be returned to the reviewers, but in some instances we will request additional minor revisions that will not require rereview. In these cases the editor or a member of the Editorial Board will evaluate the revision. For some revisions, the editor will state that a revised paper is unlikely to be accepted. In these cases, it may be worthwhile for the authors to consider submission elsewhere. What is open access?Open access is the free, unrestricted online access to the results of scholarly research. Article is made open access immediately on publication and freely available on our platform (http://www.jcimjournal.com/jim/; https://www.sciencedirect.com/journal/journal-of-integrative-medicine/).What benefits Open Access can have for authors?Higher visibility: Your studies can be found and downloaded freely from the internet by anyone around the world, so the contents can have more opportunities to attract more attentions than non-open access contents.Quicker publishing: Open access papers can be published online as soon as it was accepted by our journal, which fits the scientific requirement.Comply with funder mandates: More and more funders around the world support researchers to publish their studies as open access.
